gorgeous garage

I went for a walk on the 4th of July, along the way I passed this beautiful garage. the wood was so very weathered, but the sun was hitting and the colors of it surroundings where bouncing so much that it seemed to absorb them in this surreal way that was so very inspiring. Today I had to draw it.

bridge disected

getting ready for a show going up at Euro Pane here in Pasadena,

The work builds on my collaboration with the talented photographer Kat Roberts. We have tackled similar subjects and compositions previously, however this time Kat provided her beautiful metallic prints and I collaged, painted, drew, and in this case sewed all over them. The series was challenging and I will post more  as the show goes up this weekend.

Thank you ArtNight Pasadena and The Armory Arts

Friday March 8th, 2013 was ArtNight in Pasadena, and I was lucky enough to collaborate with some incredibly talented people to put together a multimedia installation at the Armory Center for the Arts.

A huge thank you to Kathryn Roberts for her inspirational photography and her brilliant collaboration on the set design, also to Buddy Zapata (and Buddy Zapata's Junkshop Republic) for bringin it with  fully charged and engaging music that wove in and out through out the night bridging it all together.

I also need to thank my amazing son, Reid, whom although incredibly sick all week was full of love and support.

To all of you wonderful friends, current students, and those from years past, thank you for coming out in support. I also want to thank all the new friends I made and everyone who made their way through the space and spent some time with our installation.

My most sincere thanks also for Jon LaPointe and the Armory for helping make sure everything went so very smoothly.

The space was filled with flat work, my drawings (I will add to the blog in a separate post) and Kat Roberts photography, and 30 feet of screen came alive with an animation I edited featuring the same drawings and photography merging in and out of each other. Kat and I hope to have more of these visual conversations in the near future, so stay posted. The amazing screens for the projections were fabricated to our specifications by my brother Aaron Gorecki @ http://www.mosquitocurtains.com.
The following are a few pictures of the setup  and finally those from the actual event.
